Songlines - Singing Coast to Coast is the first project of its kind in the UK and will see performances in towns from Barrow on the west coast, all the way across to Hartlepool on the east coast, with 17 stop-offs along the route in just over one month. This musical journey is a large scale celebration of the singing achievements of Sing Up Cumbria - the national singing programme - which launched in Cumbria 18 months ago, benefitting over 6000 Cumbrian primary age children and Sing Up Dales, which launched in January 2008 and has since reached over 2500 pupils aged 5-15. Singing helps children to learn more effectively and improves confidence. A travelling ballad which tells the story of each town on the way from Barrow to Hartlepool! Young Vocal Leaders from each location lead the primary schools and audience in the ballad they wrote together.
