Ragtime

Ragtime

In this unit, pupils listen to, and explore, ragtime music.
They consider aspects of the African-American musical heritage.
They use the internet to find out about ragtime's origins and social context, and listen to musical examples influencing its development.
They respond to the syncopated rhythms and structure of ragtime by creating and sequencing movement patterns. They use ICT to sequence characteristic musical phrases in ragtime style.
