Music of Ancient China
In this unit pupils compose, sing and play music based on the pentatonic scale. They learn about pentatonic scales in Chinese music, and improvise and compose on pitched instruments using the five notes.
They adopt cipher notation to record their compositions. They learn about Chinese musical instruments and their classification, and explore ways in which music is used descriptively.
