The Owl's Party

Owl's Party

Young children compose two types of song. These are:
- Pot pourri songs, in which they re-order bits of melody they have heard and
- Narrative songs which tell stories, and may also include scraps of known song or melody.

As with The Midnight Spider, the story parallels the 'verse and chorus' structure of many songs. During the classical period, Mozart and Haydn developed the Rondo form, with its ABACAD structure. Rondo form is considered in a further unit at KS2.
